Day 1 of Baltic Biking Tour: Arrival in Vilnius
Arrival at Vilnius international airport, an optional transfer, can be organized. Please enquire. Check-in at Hotel Europa City Vilnius*** or a similar hotel; welcome meeting to follow the Baltic Biking Tour Guide.
Day 2 of Baltic Biking Tour: Vilnius-Trakai-Kaunas
Vilnius is a picturesque city with numerous buildings, cathedrals and churches. The morning panoramic sightseeing tour will cover the city. There will be a walking tour of the Old Town with Vilnius Cathedral, Gediminas Tower, Peter and Paul Church, St. Anna's Church, Old University and the Gates of Dawn. In the afternoon, our Cycling tour will take us to Trakai, Lithuania's medieval capital, with the well-kept Trakai Castle charmingly nested on an island in Lake Galve. We enjoy a 15 km cycling tour in the surroundings of Trakai. We continue to Kaunas and take a short stroll in the Old Town with its elegant Old Town Hall and a Gothic cathedral. Day 3 of Baltic Biking Tour: Kaunas-Palanga-Klaipeda
We get up early to continue the tour in the direction of Palanga, where we make a sightseeing tour and see the Botanical Gardens with the Amber Museum in the former Tiskevicius Palace before enjoying a 30 km biking tour to Klaipeda. Klaipeda first became a part of Lithuania in 1923 and had a long history as a German town called Memel. The sightseeing tour takes us to the Old Town with its narrow cobblestone streets and old guild houses, and we visit the Theatre Square and the Aennchen von Tharau Fountain, check-in at Hotel Ibis Aurora*** or similar.
Day 4 of Oaltic Biking Tour: Klaipeda-Nida-Liepaja
A ferry from Klaipeda takes us to the Spit, a 100 km spit between the Baltic Sea and the Curonian Lagoon with small fishing villages, pine forests and endless dunes. We go down the spit to Nida. With its location at the Curonian Lagoon and its combination of an old-fashioned fishing village and fashionable sea resort, Nida is one of the most attractive places on the Baltic Sea Coast. We visit the High Dunes and get acquainted with the charming resort town. In the late afternoon, we enjoy a 30 km biking tour from Nida to Juodkrante before we go back to Klaipeda, from where we continue into Latvia and arrive in Liepaja—Check-in at Hotel Liva*** or similar.
Day 5 of Baltic Biking Tour: Liepaja-Jurmala-Riga
Liepaja is the 3rd largest city in Latvia; its located on the Sea Coast and has beautiful beaches. We will enjoy the short morning tour of Liepaja Old Town and will see the Trinity Church as well. After the walk, we will drive to Kemeri, where we will take a 25-kilometre-long biking tour through the Kemeri National Park. The rest of the day will be spent in Jurmala. Jurmala is a trendy resort town in Latvia. Pine Forrest surrounds it and has beautiful sandy beaches. As well as famous for its wooden fairy tale-style architecture. Day 6 of Baltic Biking Tour: Riga-Sigulda-Cesis
Riga is over 800 years old; it was founded by the German bishop Albert and is the biggest and busiest of the three BalticStates'' capitals. Riga is proud to offer a wide variety of culture, history, art and architecture, including Art Nouveau. The walking tour of the Old Town includes Riga Castle, the Dome Cathedral, St.Peter'ss Church, the Swedish Gate, the Three Brothers, the Large and Small Guilds and the Freedom Monument. After the Riga tour, we take our route to Saulkrasti, where we do a 30 km biking tour to Sigulda, another famous sightseeing town in Latvia. We will visit the ruins of the Episcopal Castle and the remains of the Castle of the Knights of the Sword. Afterwards, we head to Cesis and check in at Hotel Kolonna Cesis*** or a similar hotel in Cesis.
Day 7 of Baltic Biking Tour: Cesis-Tartu
Cesis is a fusion of medieval history and modern life; it's a Hanseatic city with castle ruins and wonderful greenery. Morning sightseeing tour of Cesis -see the Castle of the Livonian Order ruins and St.John'ss Church. Today we carry on to Estonia and the Hanja Nature Park, where we will enjoy a thirty-kilometre-long biking tour through the national park and around the Munamagi Hill, the most prominent hill in the Baltic countries at just 300 m. Our time takes you to Tartu. Check-in at Hotel Tartu*** or a similar hotel.
Day 8 of Baltic Biking Tour: Tartu-Lahemaa
Tartu is a student town with a lot of universities. Morning sightseeing tour to explore and enjoy the charming Old Town and the University founded in 1632. After the excursion of Tartu Town, we will head to Lake Peipus, and in the middle of the day, we will enjoy a 40 km biking trip from Kolka via Kallaste to Raja along the lake. The rest of the day is spent driving to the Lahemaa National Park—Check-in at Hotel Sagodi Manor*** or a similar hotel.
Day 9 of Baltic Biking Tour: Lahemaa-Tallinn
Breakfast at the hotel. We start with a forty-five-kilometre-long cycling tour from Vihula through Sagadi, Pamse, Kasmu, and Kasmu Peninsula. Later we drive to Tallinn. Tallinn is a beautiful modern city; it boasts a jaw-dropping Old Town. Tallinn's medieval Old Town is known worldwide for its authentic architecture. Enjoy the cobblestone streets and houses dating back to the 11th century, visit a few local art and crafts showrooms, galleries, and museums to indulge in small cosy cafés or restaurants and buy travel memorabilia from summer or Christmas open-air Hanseatic fairs. The old town has numerous shops, galleries, souvenir markets, outdoor cafes and restaurants. The sightseeing tour takes you around the old medieval city walls and into the Old Town, where we see Toompea Castle, the Dome Church, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and the medieval Old Town Hall—Check-in at Hotel Susi*** or a similar standard hotel.
Day 10 of Baltic Biking Tour: Tallinn Departure
Optional transfer to the airport can be organized.
Bikes are new modern Estonian-produced tour bikes, model comfort and cruiser, 3-6 speeds, hand or foot brakes, equipped with bike bags, luggage boots, mud flaps, reflectors, bells and helmets. Child seat available upon request.
