After a glimpse at the University, proceed along the Dvortsovaya (Palace) Embankment to the Palace Square, which more than once witnessed dramatic changes in the Russian history.
After a stop by the multi-domed Church of the Resurrection of Christ (also known as the Church on the Spilled Blood), cross the Neva to see the Aurora cruiser, which marked the start of the October Revolution. Take a ride along the Neva to Smolny Cathedral, one of most fabulous of Rasterlli's buildings and the Smolny Institute, the first residence on the communist government. Return then to the Admiralty region to look at St.Isaas's Cathedral, which dominates the St.Petersburg skyline, being the fourth largest domed structure in the world.
