Lights of the Arctic Tours 7 days/6 nights in January - March 2019

Day 1 (Tuesday): Arrival Tromso
Arrival in Tromso, transfer with regular airport express bus to the city centre, short walk to Hotel Radisson BluTromso**** or similar, check-in.

Day 2 (Wednesday): Tromso

Tromso is a one of the world’slargest cities North of the Arctic Circle and a city, where modern urban lifeand breath-taking arctic nature gohand in hand. During morning citytour we get acquainted with the world’s most northern Botanical gardens and enjoy the views of the mountains to the east and south.We continue with a visit Tromso University Museum where we learn fascinating facts on nature and culture in northern Norway and the indigenous Sami people. Following that, we continue around the island, passingLake Prestvatn with the Meteorological Institute and cross the bridge to the Arctic Cathedral for a visit to this masterpiece with a monumental stained-glass window. In the evening we go to the Aurora Camp where we are equipped with thermal overalls and boots to keep us nice and warm all evening. 300 friendly Alaskan huskies are waiting to greet us and enjoy some cuddles. Weenjoy atraditional Norwegian dinner and wait for the Northern Light to appear in thesky.

Day 3 (Thursday): Tromso-Alta
Today we continueto Alta. The distance between Tromso and Alta is about 300km. The trip takes around 8 hours and includes two ferry rides and a lunch break. The trip takes us through the most stunning mountain landscapes and is something to remember for a long time.We arrive late afternoon in Alta and check in at Hotel Thon Alta***. Theevening offers an optional Northern Lights tour. We visit thefamily owned Sorrisniva Adventure Facility which is perfectly locatedto maximize our chances of seeing the magnificent NorthernLights. We have anexcellent opportunity to learn more about this intriguing phenomenon as wellas the history of Alta.

Day 4 (Friday): Alta
Today we start with a visit to the award-winningAlta Museum, located at the site of early settlement of Finnmark dating around 11,000 years ago and featuring exhibitions on local culture and history. Afterwards we visit to the elegant and modern Northern LightsCathedral located inthe central part of town. The balance of the day is reserved for exploring more of this arctic town on our own. The evening offersoptional sleighride under the northern lights. We travel to a farm in the nearby countryside where weclimb aboard a sleigh and get bundled up in warm blankets. The sleigh is pulled by a Norwegian Fjord Horse through the forest and along the AltaRiver, while we sit back and enjoy the peace and beauty around us. At the end of the ride, we stop at a wilderness shelter where a traditional dinner is served around a warm fire and if we are lucky we are dazzled by the Northern Lights.

Day 5 (Saturday): Alta-Saariselka
Today we continue south from Alta to Saariselka. The journey takes approximately 6 hours, during which we have the opportunity to take in the breath-taking beauty of the changing Arctic landscape. In the far North of Finnish Lapland lies the popular resort of Inari-Saariselka. The unique northern countryside, national parks, lake areas, rivers and highland fells offer a wealth of opportunities for year-round travel. In winter, the Northern Lights dance across the sky up to 200 days a year. We arrive early afternoon and check in at Hotel Santa Tunturi****.

Day 6 (Sunday): Saariselka-Kirkenes
We continue 270 km further northto reach the Norwegian town Kirkenes almost at the border to Russia. Our eyesfeast on the Arctic nature aswe make your way up north. We arrive and check-in at Hotel Thon Kirkenes**** In the afternoon we depart for the King Crab Safari - one of the absolute highlights of Northern Norway with the chance to taste the local delicacies known worldwide. Heading out on the Kirkenes Fjord we come face to face with mighty Berent Sea. Once our king crab has been caugh tit is prepared for a most delicious lunch.

Day 7 (Monday): Kirkenes
Regular transfer to the airport and departure.
