This is a great full day shore excursion for cruise passengers in Riga, Latvia. This tour is a wonderful opportunity to get acquainted with lively capital city Riga and picturesque Sigulda city with its amazing nature and cultural heritage. In the first part of the tour you will be taken to Vidzeme, one of the most beautiful regions of Latvia, being able to enjoy typical landscapes and landmarks outside of the capital. Sigulda is well known of its picturesque landscapes and Gauja National Park that is one of the greatest treasures of Latvia. During this tour cruise passengers will be able to discover one of the most beautiful Latvian cities. After Sigulda City tour you will have a lunch in typical Latvian restaurant. After enjoying typical Latvian landscapes, traditions and meal you will be taken back to Riga in order to have a short Riga City driving tour. Cruise passengers will be picked up at harbor and can be dropped off either at harbor or old town.

Sigulda is located 53 km away to the East from Riga in the Gauja River valley. This small town is one of the most picturesque towns in Latvia and is often referred to as "the small Latvian Switzerland” because of the beautiful mountainous region. The past of the town is rich in historical events. There were castles built in the 13th century by the Teutonic Knight's Order and Riga's Bishop: Sigulda in 1207, Turaida in 1214 and Krimulda in 1252 out of which only the Turaida Castle has remained. Nowadays, Sigulda is a centre of the Gauja National Park. Hilly riverbanks, sandstone caves, ruins of the medieval castles make it so very unique and make Sigulda a favourite resort for tourism and relaxation throughout the entire year. Sigulda is the most popular tourist and leisure destination as well as a famous place for winter sports competitions with a bob sleight route, which is one of the best in the world, and the downhill skiing routes. The tour involves a lot of walking and we recommend comfortable shoes.

The last part of this tour is a driving excursion around Riga and its surroundings: central streets and boulevards of Riga, the Bastion Hill, Laima clock, The University of Latvia, Latvian Opera House, Passenger Terminal and Daugava River, Brethren cemetery and Art Nouveau architecture. After the tour you can be dropped off either at harbor or in Old Town so that you can walk through its cobble-stoned streets and get more profound insight into this medieval hanseatic city.
